How do we rate a property?
We rate all our hotels, resorts, and lodges using our own bespoke grading system. We'll only invite a property into our collection once it's been assessed by one of our specialists. If it doesn't impress us, it doesn't make the cut.

Surrounded by the teak forests and jungle streams of Pench National Park, Baghvan offers days of adventure on the prowl for tigers, and nights of bliss in one of 12 luxurious suites.
The calls of parakeets float above the forest as your 4x4 approaches Baghvan. The smell of cardamom and curry meets your nose as you arrive at the resort, where dinner is being prepared in the open kitchen. None of the 12 stand-alone suites are visible; they're each tucked away in a private stand of trees. You barely have time to take it all in, when suddenly a call rings out on the guide's radio - tigers have been spotted. You climb into a safari van and dash out into the jungle.
The luxury safari resort of Baghvan is an exotic blend of luxury and adventure. Early mornings on the safari in search of leopards, wild dogs, and tigers blend into languid afternoons relaxing by the pool. And throughout it all, your bungalow offers a private retreat with an air-conditioned bedroom, private deck, and a covered roof terrace for romantic sleep-outs.

Each spacious bungalow has a 1950s ambience with indoor and outdoor shower options. Pale cream cement screed floors against the contrasting hues of indigo, green and turquoise lend a cool tranquil affect. A life sized portrait of a traditionally attired Indian lady dominates the wall behind the bed. A small alcove forms a perfect reading nook guarded by two forest angels carved in wood. The bedroom opens out into a veranda beyond which is an open wooden deck. A metal vintage toy car sits atop dark wood chest and gives this outdoor space an element of fun. A cushioned swing for two with the teak trees in the background makes for a perfect picture.
Follow the stairs to the alluringly beautiful wooden machan (a covered jungle rooftop platform) complete with day bed and an overhead fan. It is a perfect spot to spend the afternoons looking out at treetops and birds. By night it is transformed into a comfortable double bed with a mosquito net for a jungle camping experience albeit with the luxury intact.
