There’s a quiet confidence to Claremont Resort & Club. A white terraced landmark overlooking San Francisco Bay, it has watched over the East Bay for more than a century. Set on 22 acres at the edge of Berkeley and Oakland, it’s close enough to UC Berkeley to feel its energy, yet far enough removed to offer a sense of calm. The city buzzes below; up here, it’s all filtered light, eucalyptus, and open space.

The 276 guest rooms and suites range from classically detailed to understatedly modern, many offering west-facing views of the Bay and beyond. The design preserves the building’s early 20th-century character with crown molding, tall windows and hardwood touches, while subtle updates lend a fresh, contemporary feel.

Limewood Bar & Restaurant is the main draw, with a menu that feels deeply Californian-rooted in the region, seasonal by instinct.
