Indulge in a slice of Americana at The Tides Inn. Framed by sailboats, verdant forest and still waters, this historic country inn and marina offers an idyllic retreat with plenty of southern charm.

The Tides Inn first opened its doors to the world on July 15, 1947. With room rates of just $14 per night, families flocked from the nearby Washington D.C. area in search of rest and relaxation by the water. While generations of families have visited since, the original dedication to heritage, maritime fun and hospitality remain as strong as ever.

Each accommodation is full of charm, featuring whimsical nautical touches, private balconies or patios, complimentary Wi-Fi Internet and bathrooms replete with marble and mahogany fixtures. Equally impressive are the suites, boasting a separate living room with wet bar, water views and a spa-style bathroom with walk-in shower and deep soaking tub. Each guest accommodation is also pet friendly.

Crafted by legendary course designer, George W. Cobb, The Tides Inn’s Golden Eagle Golf Course is a must for golfers of all skill levels. Known for designing the Par 3 course at Augusta, Cobb’s mischievous design features exciting elevation changes, well-place bunkers and the natural obstacle of a 50-acre lake. There’s also a driving range and clubhouse on-site for when the 19th hole calls.

Supported by Virginia’s valleys, farms, orchards, ocean waters and tributaries, the Tides Inn has cultivated relationships with farmers, watermen and foragers for dishes that reflect the essence of its coastal setting. The two dining venues - Chesapeake Restaurant & Terrace and Fish Hawk Oyster Bar - as well as intimate epicurean events, regional tastings and immersive culinary workshops delineate the Tides Inn as a culinary destination.
