Once a stately manor for English nobility, Grantley Hall now welcomes well-heeled travelers to the Yorkshire Dales. Live out those ‘Downtown Abbey’ fantasies in a classic setting with its own Michelin-starred restaurant on site.
Dating all the way back to 1680, Grantley Hall offers a taste of historic countryside living updated for the 21st century. The estate is located in North Yorkshire, on the banks of the River Skell, a rural location that’s approximately two hours north east of Manchester. This historic landmark is on the National Heritage List of protected buildings in the UK, while its spectacular Japanese Gardens are similarly protected by the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
Though history walks the corridors and banquet rooms of Grantley Hall, modern creature comforts abound. The estate recently underwent a meticulous four-year renovation, updating every aspect for the modern day. There are 47 guest accommodations to choose from, each beautifully appointed in classic country home style. Marble-topped bespoke furnishings can be found throughout, alongside stunning marble-clad bathrooms with separate tub and walk-in showers. Modern technology isn’t ignored either, with televisions hiding behind beautiful artworks and touch button lighting in each room.
Despite the small room count, Grantley Hall offers a dining experience the likes of which is usually reserved for large resorts. For starters, Shaun Rankin’s restaurant delights with a Michelin-starred, flavor-driven tasting menu that’s more pleasurable than pretentious. Bar & Restaurant 88 offers a twist on Asian cuisine, while Fletchers Restaurant provides a sophisticated venue for all-day dining. There’s also several delightful wood-paneled bars and cocktail lounges in which to imbibe.
A delightful modern addition to Grantley Hall is the estate’s Three Graces Spa. Here, guests can undergo a range of relaxing spa treatments designed to enhance mind, body and overall wellbeing. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, and steam room.

Set in a quiet, rural corner of the Yorkshire Dales, Grantley Hall is approximately two hours drive from Manchester Airport. Connections are also available via Leeds-Bradford Airport, which is slightly closer.

Pet policy:Grantley Hall does not accept dogs at the hotel or within the hotel grounds. Guide dogs are welcomed across the hotel and restaurants and we also accept support or assistance dogs provided they are wearing a coat clearly identifying them as such and an ESA letter must be provided at the time of booking.
