The Peabody Memphis

The Peabody Memphis is one of those rare accommodations that's more landmark than it is hotel. Thank not the building's graceful historic architecture or beaming neon sign, though both are noteworthy. Instead, thank a group of five North American mallard ducks, who live in The Peabody's lobby fountain and twice daily waddle down a red carpet to the amusement of guests.

The hotel's 449 guest rooms and 15 suites are among the finest in Memphis, tastefully-decorated and featuring all the amenities. The hotel also has a full-service spa and salon, upscale men's and women's clothier, and award-winning restaurants and bars. Chez Phillipe serves creative Asian-French fusion cuisine (sans duck, of course), while the Capriccio Grill specializes in pastas and steak.

The real action, however, is outside on the streets of "Blues City." The Peabody Memphis is close to many of the city's main attractions, including the Rock N Soul Museum, Gibson Guitar Factory, and bustling Beale Street.
