COMO Shambhala Estate at Begawan Giri is a residential wellness retreat, and flagship of COMO Shambhala, located near Ubud, Bali. The Estate occupies the former property of Begawan Giri, an extraordinary 23-acre location on a jungle-covered riverbank known for The Source, a natural spring locally revered for its healing properties. Dubbed ‘A Retreat for Change’, The Estate provides a total, 360-degree experience closely tailored to each individual’s needs, offering comprehensive lifestyle as well as healing programs to mend mind, body and spirit.

Accommodation is among the most private and spacious of its kind, built into the jungle, clearings and above the Ayung River. There are five Residences, each with four or five suites and a large swimming pool. There are five one, two and three-bedroom standalone Villas with assorted living space and private pools. There are three two-bedroom Garden Villas which feature living, dining, kitchen areas and private pools. There are two one-bedroom Retreat Villas, both have a private therapy room (for couples) and private pool.

To complete the holistic approach, The Estate offers a wide selection of COMO Shambhala healthful cuisine that works in conjunction with dynamic packages created according to personal requirements, whether it be to get fit, detoxification or stress management.

Facilities are state-of-the-art, including Retreat Villas and treatment rooms with a succinct approach to design to clear the mind of all but thoughts of better health. Other facilities include a Vitality pool, treatment area beside the River Ayung, a climbing wall, outdoor gym, yoga pavilion and Pilates studio. Most of all, it is the deep-set spirituality of the place that makes The Estate unique. This and the nurturing approach of the world-class staff in holistic healthcare, ranging from Naturopathy to Ayurveda. The Estate has a number of Resident Teachers including a Fitness Instructor, Yoga Master and Pilates Instructor, as well as teachers in Tai’Chi, Qigong and other martial arts. The property also provides specialist Activity Guides for mountain biking, hiking, climbing, rowing, whitewater rafting and outdoor circuit training. This is an essential facet of The Estate, using the surrounding landscape, mountains, volcanoes, rivers and valleys for outdoor training. Regular Retreat Weeks and Learning Seminars bring in further specialists for dedicated periods, focusing on anything from Tibetan Buddhism to energy healing.
