Thanda Private Game Reserve

Situated north of Hluhluwe in northern Zululand in South Africa, Thanda Private Game Reserve is a celebration of the Zulu people and their rich culture. Thanda, meaning 'love' in Zulu, is an expression of the magical union of powerful Zulu culture, wildlife, romantic decadence and exclusivity.

Reawaken romance in one of the nine luxury bush villas, or embrace nature at the four colonial safari-style tented camp. The bush villas come with their own private heated splash pools and private bomas, ideal for intimate open-air dinners. Each villa has a fireplace between the bedroom and the lounge. Luxurious bathrooms have enormous egg-shaped baths, and indoor as well as outdoor showers.

The non-electrified tented camp is built in colonial safari style, suited for guests in search of an authentic yet luxurious bush experience. The four beautifully furnished tents have four-poster beds, en-suite canvas bathrooms and magnificent views of the game reserve. Public facilities include an intimate dining tent and boma, a very stylish outdoor lounge and a plunge pool for cool relief on hot summer days.

Thanda is situated 23km north of Hluhluwe on the N2, towards Mkuze, approximately 300km north of Durban. The reserve is easily accessible from the N2, with a gravel road, the D242, going westward approximately 5 kilometres to the Thanda gate.
