Fresh Picks: Grand Hyatt Shanghai

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Fresh Picks features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we check out the towering Grand Hyatt Shanghai.

Where: Well-situated in the centre of Pudong and the Lujiazui business district, the hotel occupies the 53rd to 87th floors of the Jin Mao Tower.

What: Grand indeed. There’s no shortage of rooms to choose from, that’s for sure, with 555 in total. Equally jaw-dropping is the building’s central atrium which let’s you look up or down 31 floors. Planning an event? There are 19 venues to choose from, including a 1,200-capacity Grand Ballroom. There are nine dining options, including the cool Cloud 9 Bar which offers both cocktails and a 360 degree views from the 87th floor to make you lightheaded. When you need to come back down to earth (figuratively speaking), book in for a treatment at the Club Oasis Spa, letting Dr. Guo—a former traditional Chinese physician—blend diagnosis, acupressure, chi kung and massage techniques to restore your balance.

Who: Business travelers needing lots of wiggle room for corporate meetings, and anyone with a penchant for grand things (a grand marble bathroom, for instance).

Why: Because it wouldn’t be a stay in Shanghai without getting sky-high.
