Fresh Picks: L’AND Vineyards

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Fresh Picks features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we look into L’AND Vineyards.

Where: The resort sits 15 minutes from Évora, a historic city in Portugal named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Medieval walls and ancient monuments, on gorgeous grape-growing grounds. Views of a lovely lake and a hilltop castle are offered from the property. Today it’s a beautiful 86 degrees Fahrenheit there.

What: Designed by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan, the 22 suites are pristine and palate cleansing. Each feature a large outdoor terrace with fireplace and two private patios, while ten special rooms, “Sky Suites”, offer retractable ceilings (so guests can sleep under the stars whilst cozily surrounded by four solid walls) and private plunge pools. There’s also a full-service spa and restaurant on site.

Who: Oenophiles mad about minimalist design.

Why: Because it’s not everywhere that one can take in an oenology class and wine tasting, then explore the neolithic parish of Monsaraz and take a sunset hot air balloon ride.
