An Island Sojourn to Six Senses Zil Pasyon

by Sarah Royall of Salty Luxe

An island nation in the Indian Ocean, Seychelles is known for its granite islands, nature reserves and turquoise waters. Off the popular travel routes and with such an abundance of stunning isles to explore, it’s exactly my type of place. Once Chesh and I reached the main island of Mahé, we wanted to go one step further to find the most special spot in an already exclusive travel destination—enter Six Senses Zil Pasyon.

OH NATURAL ON ARRIVAL

The Six Senses resort is completely set amongst nature on the otherwise untouched island of Félicité. As you approach the island, it’s difficult to see the luxury villas that are surrounded by jungle and perched above the ocean. Luxury and raw nature go hand in hand here, and both elements give the most calming effect on the soul.

There are plenty of places within the resort to enjoy the natural elements and iconic granite boulder landscapes. At the beach Grand Anse, we had a breakfast picnic on the sand against a backdrop of giant rock boulders. There are also sundowners to enjoy at the Top Hill, where we sat on the moonscape of boulders at the highest point of the island to watch the sunset.

SPA SERVED ON THE ROCKS

Then comes the Six Senses Spa. Seriously one of the best spas I’ve ever seen. This spa is literally built into the boulders, facing the turquoise ocean of the Seychelles. We started with the sauna and steam room, then took a dip in the secluded pool before taking the rope bridge down to the treatment room by the ocean. Bliss!

SECLUDED COCO ISLAND SUNSETS

But by far our favorite part of Six Senses Zil Pasyon is the even smaller island of Coco Island, reached by a short paddle using the complimentary kayaks. This place was empty and completely natural. Picture a dreamy Seychelles landscape and then imagine pulling your kayak ashore to enjoy it all to yourself. We also got to visit Coco Island on the sunset cruise, this time with a glass of champagne while watching the sky turn purple and red.

BIG VISTA VILLAS

The villas also deserve a special mention. They’re extremely private and surrounded by jungle with ocean views. Everything we could want and need has been taken care of in our Six Senses abode. For those with a larger budget, I would highly recommend one of the exclusive Residences. Sitting at the top of the island with impressive panorama views of the ocean, the Residence even has a transparent rooftop pool.
