How do we rate a property?
We rate all our hotels, resorts, and lodges using our own bespoke grading system. We'll only invite a property into our collection once it's been assessed by one of our specialists. If it doesn't impress us, it doesn't make the cut.
From the quality of the food served in the restaurant to the amenities offered in each bedroom, we carefully rate each property to make sure it meets our high expectations.

About This Hotel
Dromoland Castle in County Clare, Ireland is an exclusive hotel that was once a magnificent 5th-century fortress built for Gaelic royalty.
Dromoland Castle Hotel & Country Estate on Ireland's rugged west coast provides luxury hotel extravagance in an exemplary 5th-century castle fit for the kings and queens of Ireland. It is place to relax and unwind amidst grandeur and opulence, to curl up by a stone fireplace with a cognac and a good book, or to explore, by foot or horseback, the vast spaces and wildlife of the great outdoors. Fishing, falconry, clay shooting, and archery are just some of the old world activities brought back to life at this ancient country estate, as well as golf, celebrated with the inclusion of a Ron Kirby-designed 5-star golf course.
After a day spent getting back to nature, return to your 1600 sq. ft. estate-style room and get ready for dinner in the Earl of Thomond Restaurant. There the delicious food is served on tables clad in Irish linen, laid with Wicklow silver, and lit by grand, sparkling chandeliers, accompanied by the soft ethereal rhythms of the traditional Irish harp.
