While it may be a relative newcomer on the city’s hotel scene, InterContinental Barcelona is earning rave reivews in the Catalan capital – and it’s not too difficult to see why. For starters, the hotel’s location in the Montjuic district makes it the perfect headquarters for exploring the city’s many cultural sights. Guests are just five minutes’ walk from Plaça d'Espanya, and Poble Sec metro stations, while Barcelona–El Prat Airport is just 15 minutes away by car.

When it comes to the interior design, InterContinental Barcelona is at one with the city it calls home. Across 273 guest rooms and suites, aspects of the unique Catalan culture are threaded beautifully into a modern look. For example, the use of natural wood interiors with hues of blue, ochre and neutral tones creates a calming environment that promotes relaxation. Alongside some of the largest rooms in the city, guests are treated to comfy robes and slippers, cutting edge flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet.

Helmed by Michelin-starred chef Victor Torres, Quirat is InterContinental Barcelona’s signature dining experience. The word quirat translates as “the measurement of purity amongst the elements that make up the earth,” and diners can look forward to a specially curated menu that’s tailored around Chef Torres’ interpretation of the earth. Quirat represents a hugely impressive dining option, but it’s not the only show in town. All-day dining is available at Arrel Restaurant, which features an open kitchen and daily set menu. Depending on your choice of tipple, there’s also a coffee lounge and cocktail bar to explore.

Elsewhere, take a trip to the hotel’s stunning rooftop space and soak in the views from the 173 Rooftop Terrace. Perfect for people watching, the terrace affords birds-eye views of Barcelona, as well as a rooftop swimming pool that’s perfect for hot summer days. It would be remiss not to mention the hotel’s impressive spa, with six treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, steam, sauna and hammam.
