Over 500 years ago, King Frances was compelled to create a royal hunting lodge. What started as a simple project ended up creating the largest Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley – the Chateau de Chambord. Originally designed as the King’s stables, the building housing Relais de Chambord was reborn in 2018 as a contemporary boutique hotel, offering visitors a unique venue to experience the historic majesty of the estate.

Designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Relais de Chambord’s 56 refined accommodations are unique, design-led spaces that are full of natural light. The small details in each are astounding, with velvet, woods and ceramics combining to thrilling effect. The design is surprisingly modern, with all the cutting-edge comforts one would expect from a hotel of this stature. Despite this warm embrace of the future, the estate’s past is delightfully close to hand, with a selection of rooms featuring unobstructed views of the chateau’s fairy-tale turrets.

Relais de Chambord showcases a range of gastronomic experiences, with flavors to suit any palate. Overlooking the Château de Chambord, Le Grand Saint-Michel invites guests to indulge in the spirit of French bourgeois cuisine—thoughtfully reimagined by Meilleur Ouvrier de France chef Joseph Viola. The hotel’s cozy bar and terrace are the perfect venue for a leisure aperitif with chateau views. At Les Armes du Chateau is the hotel’s peerless brasserie experience.
