The city's motto "Munich loves you" can be felt strongest within the walls of the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost, a perfect demonstration of the Bavarian inclination to modernize while respecting tradition.

From the lagoon pool, peep through an underwater, one-way window/mirror into the lobby.
Don't be fooled by the historical exterior; Sofitel Munich Bayerpost holds a contemporary zeal within its doors. Stepping through them, guests will be struck by a massive open space drenched in purple and golden hues. A minimalist staircase climbs up towards the second level, spiking the curiosity of those below.

A short walk from the city's central train station, this heritage-listed monolith is filled with 396 rooms and suites; the largest 10 were recently given a new look by designer Harald Klein, showcasing large, graphic prints, metallic coloring, and dramatic hanging lights.

When not making big waves in the German business world in one of 20 meeting rooms, guests may find themselves ditching their suits in favor of towels at the spa.

Perhaps though, dining is more your way to unwind. After enjoying a Tom Collins at Isarbar, choose either Schwarz & Weiz for international favorites, or Sophie's for market-fresh French cuisine.

Beautiful Hotel with Amazing Amenities

My husband and I stayed at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost as part of a Bavarian vacation that also included Austria. The hotel is conveniently located steps away from the train station if you are arriving by train, but is situated in such a way that you don't get much foot traffic in front of the hotel which was a good thing.

Because we booked through Kiwi Collection, we were upgraded to a better room upon arrival...and it was fantastic. The tub was heaven, as were the Hermes bath products. I suppose the best way to describe this hotel is that they get all the small details right which is sometimes hard to come by even at high-end hotels. For example, the "do not disturb" button is located conveniently next to the bed so you never again have to bolt out of bed in the morning when housekeeping knocks a little too early for your liking. Also, they include docking stations for all your electronics that are cleverly hidden inside the furniture.

The other great thing about the hotel was the service. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful and we never got the impression they were annoyed that we didn't speak German. In fact, most hotel employees speak numerous languages (as is common in this part of the world) including German, English, French, Italian, and others.

There are only two small downsides to this hotel (1) it is located in a very touristy part of town and (2) the internet is free, but only includes limited bandwidth. If you want a better connection, for example to post vacation photos to the internet, you have to pay 9 Euros per day for it. Overall though we would highly recommend this hotel.

very good value for money

very nice again, perfect service. and this time a room on the 8th floor whith a wonderful view.
