Such is the 1960s-style glitz and glamor of Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre, guests could be forgiven for thinking they’d arrived on the set of Mad Men. Even if you don’t find Don Draper propping up the bar, the unique, mid-century style at this flawless and refined hotel comes highly recommended.

Believe it or not, Dubai’s second Waldorf Astoria hotel is located on Happiness Street in the International Financial Centre. This special hotel occupies the 18th to 55th floors of the Burj Daman, a striking skyscraper that’s as impressive on the outside as it is on the inside. The Mad Men comparison in our introduction may have seemed out of left field, but the iconic TV show inspired much of this hotel’s art and décor, mixing marble, ebony, brass and bronze to nail a mid-century New York aesthetic.

This design ethos extends to the 275 rooms and suites, each crafted to evoke the vibe of a trendy Manhattan apartment. The interiors are dominated by floor-to-ceiling windows that fill each accommodation with bright desert sunlight. The amenities are plentiful and cutting edge, with complimentary Wi-Fi Internet, flatscreen TVs and digital door keys coming as standard. Don’t worry, leather-clad drinks cabinets and mid-century style clock radios keep the theme very much on point. The bathrooms are another delightful element, each clad in grey marble with luxurious Boca Terry robes and Salvatore Gerragamo toiletries.

Inspired by the original that was once located at Waldorf Astoria New York, Bull & Bear headlines the hotel’s marvelous dining offering.
