How do we rate a property?
We rate all our hotels, resorts, and lodges using our own bespoke grading system. We'll only invite a property into our collection once it's been assessed by one of our specialists. If it doesn't impress us, it doesn't make the cut.
From the quality of the food served in the restaurant to the amenities offered in each bedroom, we carefully rate each property to make sure it meets our high expectations.

About This Hotel
At Zannier Île de Bendor, the Mediterranean feels close enough to touch, with the hotel unfolding like a quiet village suspended between sea, sky, and sunlit stone.
Zannier Île de Bendor sits on a private island just off the coast of Bandol in the south of France, a short boat ride that feels like a shift into a different tempo of life. The property was conceived as an intimate seaside hamlet, with low-slung buildings, stone paths, and terraces that keep you close to the water rather than above it. Move between sculpted gardens, rocky coves, and small squares where guests linger over a glass of Bandol wine, so the island quickly becomes familiar, almost like a place you’ve known for years.
Rooms and suites are arranged in several buildings across the island, so you never feel part of a crowd. Interiors follow Zannier’s signature restraint: natural textures, considered details, a palette drawn from sand, limestone, and driftwood. Spaces feel quietly residential, with generous windows that keep your eye on the sea or the island’s gardens. It’s the kind of place where you slip into your room after a swim, leave the doors open to the breeze, and let the sounds of the water do most of the talking.
Dining on Île de Bendor is very much about its setting between Provence and the sea. The hotel’s restaurants and bars are positioned to make the most of the natural light and changing skies. Breakfast might be unhurried and barefoot, while lunch is more likely to spill out onto a terrace with the scent of the sea in the air. Evenings bring a more intimate tone with candlelight on stone, glasses catching the last of the sun, and plates that feel rooted in the region’s produce. The bar is the island’s social hinge, a place for a pre-dinner drink, a final nightcap, and the kind of unplanned conversations that often become the highlight of the trip.
Wellness here is less about retreating from the island and more about engaging with it. Treatments draw on a natural, pared-back philosophy, favoring light-filled spaces and gentle rituals. Movement tends to be oriented toward the landscape—picture morning swims, walks around the perimeter of the island, and a session in a discreet fitness space.
By the time you leave Zannier Île de Bendor, the opening impression of a hotel suspended between sea, sky, and sunlit stone has become something more intimate: a private frame of reference you’ll return to whenever you think about the Mediterranean at its most compelling.
