Villa Honegg has the Coolest Pool in the World

by Marta Gaska of Voyage Provocateur

Villa Honegg has been on my dream hotel list since I started my Instagram five years ago. There is something so iconic about it, especially its pool. I have traveled in Asia, Americas and Europe and, so far, this is the best visual effect a swimming pool has ever had on me—it merges with the quintessential landscape of those Swiss hills rolling down in front of you and the beautiful blue lake.

Arriving at Villa Honegg feels a bit like a scene from a Wes Anderson movie. As you climb up the hills with the car, a beautiful blue façade emerges. As you arrive in the reception area you hear the fire cracking and see some books on the shelves you know you will come later to look at.

And then the moment of truth came: was the iconic swimming pool as spectacular as I’d imagined it? I often build up my expectations so high, that the reality cannot match it, but in this case, I couldn’t be happier. I am fascinated what light can do to the landscape, so you could basically find me in the swimming pool at sunrise, during the day, sunset and night. I promise you, you will not get enough of it. The spa area is a treat too, with a sauna, hammam, and vegetable bouillon offered to give you strength as the day passes.

Lastly, and this is something that I’d strongly encourage all hotels to do, Villa Honegg’s breakfast lasts until 2 p.m., So for those who like me love having extended brunches, this is the place for you.

My only issue now is that I would love to see and experience the hotel in winter. I might just need to come back.
