Considering sampling Kyoto for a night? You might want to extend your stay to two. With its expansive menu of luxurious amenities, Hyatt Regency Kyoto makes this charming city even ... charming-er.

Try the Geisha dinner experience, with traditional art and entertainment by Geiko and Maiko.
It comes as no surprise that Hyatt Regency Kyoto's way with top-tier luxury seems positively effortless; its home city's pedigree in furnishing exclusive services to an exacting crowd dates back to its first years as the imperial capital in the eighth-century. Since then, Kyoto's emphasis has shifted, but Hyatt Regency Kyoto supports this tradition with subtly lush decor and professional, unassuming staff.

The 189 accommodations range from the simple elegance of the King room to the grandly-appointed Regency suite with its big screen television, wrap-around balcony, and wooden "Hiba" bathtub. With several choices available, there's a room level for everyone.

Jetlag may be a perk in the hotel's quiet Higashiyama Ward neighborhood; early risers often enjoy the chanting of monks at the nearby temples as they start their day. After breakfast, Kyoto's sightseeing and shopping draw guests to the train station, just a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

Quality above expectations for Hyatt Regency hotel

Had a fantastic stay, thank you. The wooden bath and floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom was fantastic as was the balcony king room.

I'm a Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum member and this was my second time at the hotel within a year. I would definitely consider it again.

Love the Touzan bar however we ate dinner one night in the Touzan restaurant and I'm sorry to say it wasn't the best dining experience we had in town. Although the atmosphere is great (the rock garden is gorgeous) the quality of most of the food (local grilled chicken excepted) and the service was below standard compared to other dining options in Kyoto.

Only significant complaint is about the health facilities in what feels like a window-less war bunker out back of the hotel. For a hotel of this calibre where every detail in the rooms and lobby is perfect, and in a tourist city like Kyoto, it was really really disappointing not to have properly designed fitness and plunge pool/spa facilities available to relax and recharge after being out sightseeing all day. If you need space, why not get rid of that silly Italian restaurant? How many tourists come to Japan to eat Italian food?

Traditional Service in a Modern Setting

I'm hoping I understand your rating key. My assumption is "10" is excellent and "1" is poor. I might have gotten this backward...

My experience at Hyatt Regency in Kyoto was above and beyond expectations. The service was spectacular, room was spotless and well-equipped, and breakfast (both American buffet and Japanese) was exceptional.

I found the hotel to be very accessible to sights and dining, but I like to walk. There's a bus right outside the hotel, which takes your to Kyoto Station where you can transfer to trains for Arashiyama or Nara. There's also a shuttle stop that makes the rounds to sightseeing spots not requiring train travel.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Kyoto.

nice stay

good location, good room and good gym. recommended.

Elegant Hotel with Excellent Service

Beautiful hotel; attentive service; good value. Location is a little distant from centre but easily accessible to Metro and taxis readily available.

Hyatt Kyoto

Despite the fact that the room is small, it is very good. Think spa could be better and should not charge an extra to use the sauna. Breakfast very good and location also good.

Overall, very good experience and service.

Premium accommodation

The corner room is spacious, suitable for family vacation. The bidet was a bit cranky & didn't work well. Japanese restaurant serves fantastic food & great ambience.

A very good stay. The concierge was excellent as were the breakfasts. They were nice enough to invite us for cocktails.

Serenity in the Ancient Capital

I would have no hesitation in recommending the Hyatt Regency Kyoto. I stayed for 5 nights and found the hotel to be very comfortable and extremely well staffed. I found the service levels to be very high in all parts of the hotel. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the nearest subway station and a 5 minute drive to Kyoto Station.

Great hotel

Exceptional level of service and attention to detail. A most enjoyable stay on all levels.
