With stunning views of mountains and ocean and an ideal location, downtown Seattle's The Edgewater is quintessential Washington.

You seek to experience the Pacific Northwest in luxury, perched high above the waters of Puget Sound. You imagine yourself in the heart of this magical port city's downtown, with shopping, dining, and nightlife close at hand. The Edgewater is where you want to be.

Located at the foot of Pier 67, The Edgewater's lodge-style architecture is inspired by organic elements; custom-designed rooms feature river-rock fireplaces, antler chandeliers, slate flooring, and distinct local art. Relax in an oversize chair beside a rustic gas pine fireplace, cocktail in hand, and watch the sun set over the Olympic mountains.

At the end of the day, indulge in innovative New American cuisine at the hotel's signature restaurant, Six Seven. Afterward, the hip nightlife of the nearby Belltown neighborhood awaits. And if you overindulge, a brisk 10-minute morning walk to Pike Place Market to grab a coffee at the world's first Starbucks is sure to invigorate.

Esdgewater

Other than being on the water there was nothing else for the hotel to brag about. It's noisy, trains run all night long and because the hotel is a 4 story wooden structure you hear voices, footsteps, toilets flushing, water running. The room had no bathtub, and was in need of repainting, the windows were dirty inside and out and the bedding a little thin for winter visitors ( I slept in the bathrobe and had to haul out the extra balnket) As for the location, if you don't plan on leaving the hotel it's fine but it is a bit of a hike up to the market area and shopping. I would not reccommend this hotel and I will not be going back it was not worth the $645 for a two night stay.

When they say "waterfront"...

Loved our "on the water" room...Open window looked down to water...silently each night a cruise ship docked at the next peer...so fun to watch...and unbelievable that they were such a presence but silent...except for horn at the 4:00 PM departure.
Loved the decor...the bar was great...lovely common space that was user friendly.
Only negative, our friends on 3rd floor were bothered by a noisy wedding on their floor one night.

A Mixed Bag

I spent four nights at the Edgewater on a trip to Seattle with my 13-year-old son. I had read the reviews which called it one of the 100 best hotels in America, and I guess with the bar set that high, it would be hard not to be disappointed.

On the positive side: the service is great, the people are friendly and couldn't be more helpful. They gave us good advice about how to get to places, the valet parking brings your car in seconds, and one employee went out of her way to show my son a bald eagle who lives on top of the E on the Edgewater sign. The views of the bay, the islands and the mountains were amazing, and my son had a great time watching the ships come and go from Japan, China and elsewhere.

On the downside: valet parking is $36 per night, and even though your car is inches from you, you're not allowed to walk those inches and get it yourself. Room service, while quick and very good, is obscenely expensive. The first morning, we ordered a small coffee, one order of pancakes, one yogurt parfait, and a glass of milk. The total: $48. Ouch. Another reviewer mentioned bumps and scrapes in the hotel, which is right on the mark. The bathrooms are obviously newly redone and are very nice. The beds are comfortable. But the carpets are beyond tired, with poorly done repairs in the hallway, and an overall musty smell that even my son commented upon. The area around the elevators on our third floor was always desperately in need of a good vacuuming. Wifi is $10 per day, which I find annoying when it's free in so many other places. On our next to last day, there was construction which sounded like it was in the room next door to us which started at about 7 a.m. We're from the East Coast and were awake, so no problem for us, but I can't imagine everyone was up like we were. (I have subsequently been told that the construction was the sound of new carpets being installed in the hallways. Good news!)

Definitely upgrade to the full water view; it's worth the price. We spent hours watching it rain on Bainbridge Island while it was sunny in Seattle, and vice versa. We didn't have a balcony (and didn't even know it was an optino when we checked in) but opened the sliding glass doors every day and enjoyed the bay.

Overall, I would probably stay here again for the location, the view, the service and the food, but new carpets would move it up a mile.

Having booked through Kiwi, we got a better rate than we could find anywhere else, but when we asked the front desk about `Kiwi Collection' special touches, we were told they had never heard of the Kiwi Collection.
