As if Necker wasn’t enough, Richard Branson went ahead and added another ultra-exclusive Virgin Island to the fold just two miles across the water. Moskito Island is comprised of three separate estates. There’s the Oasis Estate sitting on the highest point with room for 18 guests, the Point Estate on a cliffside with beach access and room for 22 and the Branson Estate of three villas connected by walkways which also accommodates 22 and has private beach access. “Wow” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

What’s old is new again. Closing in 2016 for renovations, the circa-1966 Century Plaza Hotel reopened in late 2021 as the Fairmont Century Plaza. Used as a location for the Emmy Awards and Grammy Awards, this iconic property designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki got a retro-meets-California-modern interior redo by renowned design firm Yabu Pushelberg. They also dropped a number of rooms and suites—726 to just to 400—to give guests more space and every single one comes with a private balcony.

After nine years of careful restoration work, a part of the former Louvre Post Office has transformed into Hôtel Madame Rêve, and she’s a stunner. Hotelier Laurent Taïeb used the late French designer Andrée Putman’s motto “life must be golden” to guide the color palette of the First Arrondissement hotel’s 82 rooms and two restaurants. There’s also either the spa or a verdant rooftop green space with sunbeds for recovering from any late, wine-fueled nights on the town.
