Overview

L'Auberge Del Mar is nestled in a picturesque California village north of San Diego. Enjoy breathtaking beaches, a famous racetrack, and ballooning in a seaside estate steeped in Hollywood history.

Travel the world from the relaxing comfort of the spa with Seaside Sojourns, signature treatments based on traditional techniques that invoke the cultures and traditions of the Amazon, Morocco, and Polynesia.
The song "California Dreaming" must have been written with a place like L'Auberge Del Mar in mind. Set in a beautiful coastal village north of San Diego, this estate-style resort is just a short stroll from Southern California's most breathtaking beaches.

Built on the site of the old Hotel Del Mar, a popular haunt of Hollywood film stars, L'Auberge Del Mar's 112 guest rooms and eight luxury suites offer picturesque views of the village and ocean. At Kitchen 1540, the resort's signature restaurant, you'll enjoy a seasonal menu of farm-to-plate cuisine prepared by Chef Paul McCabe, named a "rising star of American cuisine" by the James Beard Foundation.

If you're seeking tranquility, lounge beside the hotel's two outdoor pools and whirlpool or indulge in one of the hotel's exotic "Seaside Soujourn" spa treatments. Eager for excitement? Take a thrilling balloon ride, spend a day at the famous Del racetrack, or tee off at one of San Diego's most exclusive golf courses.

Not kiwi standard

The staff seemed kind but not overly helpful. Our room had an ocean view but only if you glanced over a noisy residential parking lot. We were happy that the valet service was sufficient due to no other parking option found near the hotel. Another pleasant surprise was the restaurant. We found lunch, dinner, drinks & views to be fabulous! Overall, this hotel is fair but certainly not as good as most hotels referred by kiwi.

Perfect Stay

I love this hotel and plan to come back during the summer. From the poolside bar to Kitchen 1540, everything was stunning.

Our stay at L'Auberg Del Mar August 2012

Our stay was amazing at this place. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the crib we requested for our 9 month old daughter. It was wobbly and had some loose screws making it unsafe for her to be in since she's pulling herself up from furniture these days. We had to share the bed with her instead. Other than that it was great.

Oh, on weekends this hotel is extremely popular for sunset weddings and events so if you don't like the large crowds hanging out in the hotel lobby on weekends, this is not the place for you.
